alzteimers

My mother is getting ready to go to a appointment to get check for alztimers this is a scary thing my grandmother had it and i could not deal with it but with it being the possibility of my mother having it is a whole new situation, i am doing some checking on the internet but is there anyone out there that can give me any points on dealing with this and helping my dad take care of her through this...we are not sure she has it but I want to be fully aware of what is going on and what I can do? thanks

All I can say is that you'll need a ton of patience to get through it. My mom didn't really have Alzheimers, just normal age-related dementia, and sometimes would ask me what time it was every five minutes. (She was legally blind, so couldn't read the clock herself.) Good luck.
