Well well, that's it. I have been able to get some ebooks on this topic that i know will really help everybody that want to know about HDTV. Now, i don't know the rules about giving out ebook here, but i think you should try and find some of them online. Because, believe me, you can not get a full details to that your question if you don't do some research. But to answer your question, and at the same time not promoting any Electronics manufacturer, i will tell you here and now that you have a good warranty on these three manufacturers. 1). SONY. 2).LG and 3). SAMSUNG. Now to talk about specifications. Take a look at these, lets see if this will be of any help to you. TV RESOLUTION REQUIREMENTS. TV SIGNAL TYPE HORIZONTAL (RES) VERTICAL (RES) PIXEL NTSC ANALOGUE 330 480 158400 NTSC DIGITAL(DVD) 720 480 345600 SDTV 480i 640 480 307200 EDTV 480p 852 480 408960 HDTV 720p 1280 720 921600 HDTV 1080i 1920 1080 2073600 Take a good look at this table and you will see that we have moved up very well concerning the TV technology. We have TWO types of HDTV and you really need to ask questions when you are buying. Do not allow any sales man to take you for a ride. Let them at least know that they are not dealing with a novice. Talk like a pro, and ask questions. Lets talk about the screen. You have LCD and Plasma, these two types make up almost all the electronics we are buying today. But there are little difference between them(my opinion),if you ask me, i will go for plasma, recently my brother got an HDTV with LCD screen and i fell in love. So just go for what you think is the best for you after going through all the manuals on HDTV that you can lay your hands on. Try 'HDTV FOR DUMMIES' it has helped me alot. Enjoy!

Hdtv should be bought only in countries with high definition transmission..For that use direct transmission from satelite..The usual cable tv transmits only low resolution. So there is no use if You buy a hdtv for a cable network.

I think its best to buy plasma tv..They cost more but provide high quality images..anyway check weather high definition tv channels are available in your network or else it will be a waste to buy such tv
