If I didn't have some serious health issues that leave me wanting a great deal of rest each day, I would home school mine without a second thought. The public schools where I live are rather horrible. All year, they have been greatly irresponsible for any money that I've had to send with my child... I sent her to school with 5 boxes of crayons.. and the teacher took them. Now a week ago she sends home a note complaining that all of the students have ran out of crayons and to send more for their math homework because if they use the incorrect colors for the assignments they will be marked wrong... and spelling, well.. we won't even get started on my daughter's teacher's spelling abilities - or lack thereof. Btw wg62914.. lol we're in the same state. Once a grade is earned and recorded and there is no proof of cheating, it's quite possible for the legality of the action of changing the grade to be challenged, especially if the absences are excused. ( i had a teacher that used to change any grade of a 75% of lower to a 0% in the gradebook just because if "You can't do better than that you don't deserve a grade at all).

My child is too young for school, but I have seriously been considering homeschool. I have quite a lot of time before I have to decide. The one thing that is swaying me away from it is the lack of socialization my son would get at home. If your child has already missed alot of school due to migraines, homeschooling maybe be a wise choice for you.

I home schooled my kids for a couple of years due to my son's severe asthma condition. I totally enjoyed that time I spent with them. I think home schooling is okay if you can cover all the bases. The most detrimental can be (but not with all children) is the social aspect. However, most areas have strong home school groups that meet weekly or every other week. In these meetings the parents and children can socialize and also have specialized classes where each parent who desires to can teach an area in which they specialize. It could be an instrument, sewing, carpentry or any other non-book skill. It can also be science or like a math camp. There are many options out there now! A science museum near our home had a special day once a month in which they taught classes for only home schooled students. so.. if your son needs a more comfortable environment in which to learn, and you can cover the bases... I say go for it. Check the laws regarding home schooling in your area too.
