Do you discuss on sensitive issues relating to politics, religion, or anything you know would not be accepted by a majority of people here ????? Or do you just stick to the regular topics ????? And does discussing sensitive topics(not vulgar or abusive ones) have a bad impact on your overall ratings(the stars besides your name) ?? Does these topics get deleted by mylot ????? Just curious to know !!!! Thanks !!!!

I discuss controversial issues all the time. It has no affect on my star rating really, as you can tell since I have a 9 star rating right now... I actually prefer controversial discussions since it encourages debate, I really enjoy a good debate. It can be disappointing if you find out your opponent is just an idiot who doesn't bother actually debating but just uses straw men and evasion, but still, its fun I've been in a few discussions that have been deleted, but not often.

Yeah I discuss sensitive topics. Those are the best topics to discuss because people can become really passionate about them and heated discussions ensue. As long as both participants are relatively mature, everyone ends up learning something and such discussions result in the edification of both parties.

I prefer to remain on regular discussion while some of mine discussion is about politics also but if some one already started the discussion and using some unacceptable thing then i would perfer to sliently give mine opinion whether they like or not. i not care much about rating but its important also for me. when i started giving response to the discussion, mine priority is giving quality reply or response to the discussion not care much about the topic of the discussion. til now, i can say that i cover all types of discussion means i give reply to almost every type of discussion.

I find that most people who have this attitude of not caring about their star ratings often have the higher star rating.

I think all topics can be discussed here and the majority of members here will not lower your rating, because they have a different opinion. However, a few people have been known to do this, but at the end of the day your star rating does not really matter unless you value your self worth against your star rating that is.

yes, i discuss issues like this religion, racism, etc. but i absolutely avoid politics. the reason for that is, i think i'm not at a suitable age to discuss politics. i am still 14 years old, and i think i should enjoy what i can right now to the fullest, and worrying about politics isn't going to help that. however, i enjoy talking or debating about religion, racism, and world issues as i like expressing my ideas in a mature way, instead of just blindly arguing about trivial things. i don't really care much about the effect on ratings it will have as i care more about getting my thought out there. to me, the main point of being on mylot isnt making money or getting good ratings or any of the sort, it is to enjoy myself and communicate to people from all around the world :)

Now is the perfect time to get interested in politics. The more you know once you become a legal voter the better. Too many people ignore politics until they go to vote, but in my opinion that is too late, you should always keep an eye on politics and politicians.

Politics is something which most of the youngsters don't like to know about or don't want to get into....but i believe that if you don't keep an eye open towards politics....you will not be aware ever as to whats happening in your own country.....i feel everyone should know about politics and should know whom they are electing as peoples representatives.....

I don't know that it was sensitive but some members talked about it as racial discrimination which i don't think it is because i was referring it to the news i posted and that really took their attention. But anyway, whether the rating will be increased or deducted, what matters most is that you were able to say what you wanted and you did not in any way ridicule and stereotype someone here. When you think that you posted something that will definitely sting you somehow, just accept it since you wanted something to be exposed. Be it rated negatively by others, you still need to be firm on what you believe in. That is why going against the flow is really difficult, but it is worth it. I still encourage you to continue doing what is clear and not against anything on Mylot rules. Deleted by Mylot? well not unless the discussion was already been raged by a lot of members throwing stones to each other. I don't know the answer too if they delete such.

I prefer to discuss regular topics rather than controversial ones because some topics that are very sensitive are not acceptable to other people.I just avoid hurting others in the process of the discussion especially if there is disagrreement in opinions about a certain topic.

I discuss what ever comes to mind and deal with the responses with as much respect for people's thoughts as I am treated to. Yes people can knock your rating down but who cares? In the end if you treat others well and with respect, then it'll turn around. Open mind, open heart, open discussions.... no worries.

From what I've seen, MyLot doesn't delete debates on abortion, religion, or anything else yo could consider as being controversial. Because of that, this site is very active. If they did go about censoring the discussion of issues such as those, a good number of people would go else where to talk about said topics. It's this open(source) way of thinking that attracted me to this site in the first place. Doubt I'm the only one. What falls under the category of "regular topics" anyway? I've seen more than a few questions from people that didn't seem the less bit regular to me. I could see an anal-retentive person getting offended by everything posted on this site. Some people just like to nitpick. I've taken a look at the FAQs(link is at the bottom of every page), and it says the star ratings are regulated. One person can't do much of anything to affect your rating. If anyone tries to abuse the system, they are penalized for doing so.

i think those topics are what we should discuss here. because we have different knowledge, perception, and information about those topics. and some of us are confused with those topics. but if we start discussing those kind of topics, i think we could all have a common understanding about those topics and we could all agree at one point.
