I Use thunderbird. I don´t use hotmail on it just gmail, but I´m sure works the same. It´s just adding the account(s) the sandard setting on tunderbird works fine for the avarage user.

Hotmail is using the HTTP Protocol for connecting to the mailbox, while gmail uses POP3, thunderbird, as i know , does not support HTTP, i would like to know what kind of a third party soft i can use for connecting to hotmail mailbox through thunderbird.

Yepp (checked thunderbird settings) you are right about this.
But there must be some plugin U can use
