I and my son will be migrating to Canada within this year. But I thiught, before leaving the country, I should take advantage of the hot vacation spots, which I know, we will be missing. I am torned between Boracay or Palawan. Or, if there are other nice places to go to. What do you think guys?

Boracay is just Boracay. A very good beach laden with the amenities of an urban area - hotels, clubs, parties... Palawan may not have the grand accommodations and establishments Boracay has but it can offer more. If you want to see more of nature's beauty and be engulfed in it without being obstructed by other people's activities, Palawan has it. But then, you have to choose which part of Palawan you wanted to visit. If you want to see more of the province, then El Nido is a good start where you can enjoy nice beaches and astonishing sunsets. From there, you may drop by for a day or two in Coron where you can explore good diving spots and mesmerizing lakes, do island hopping and witness some Tagbanuas gathering "balinsasayaw" nest, and drop by at Calauit Island Wildlife Reserve, the "mini-Safari of the Philippines". After Coron, you can take the overnight ship ride to Puerto Princesa and see the underground river and the crocodile farm.

i am suggesting for you to go to palawan. the white sand of boracay beach is great and its wonderful, but there is nothing more than that.. you can go to the puccca beach, try many other water activities but still, palawan is better than boracay. just my pov. if you love nature, wants to see more than a white fine sand, palawan should be the best choice.

Geee thanks! I guess more Filipino Mylotters prefer Palawan than Boracay. At first, I was really confused, coz I never had an idea of which place is better. Many thanks to your opinions :-)

Boracay is only good for party people, if you and your son likes to party every night then Boracay is the place for you. Palawan is more laid back, it has a lot of nature and marine reserves to offer that has to be explored. Its more serene and you can really relax if you are in Palawan, there are budget but very nice accomodations. If you and your son are adventurous types and likes nature, Palawan is the right place for you. If you would like to ask me about accomodations in Palawan, you can send me a message.

Been to both 3 years back, though I went back to Boracay last year. Both beaches are great, but the last time I went to Boracay the beach had the seaweed on the shore.. Didn't like it that much.. Still, the beach is clean. If you're up to for fun and night club and more of great food and stuff in 1 place by just walking, then Boracay would be a good place to be. Palawan is also great.. The place is so beautiful and it's pretty peaceful, and not to mention the place is clean too. Went to Honda Bays, went for island hopping and did snorkeling, it was fun, it's a good way of getting away from crowded area.. Went to Underground River and the place was astounding. I love both, but I would still want to discover more of Palawan, since I only stayed for roughly 3 days, the first time I was in Boracay that was for a week. The last time was for 4 days. Well, I had so much fun for both!

Good for you, you had great experiences to both places. Have you been to other places aside from Boracay and Palawan? Would love to have more choices too :-)

If you want tranquility, peace and calmness go to Palawan. But if you want party (AS IN PARTY), noise and lots of people to mingle with go to Boracay! I've been in those places (BOTH ARE BEAUTIFUL) but it will really depend on your preferences. Happy MyLotting!

That's a good idea. However, due to financial constraints, I limited my budget, good for one, worth it, vacation. Rather than going to these 2 places, and not spend the most of our time, I prefer to spend for one, worth it, vacation. I am more confused now, coz with my family, with me...especially my son, we might need some tranquility. On the other hand, I've always been into parties. Hmmm...

Ofcourse, budget will always be an issue, but I am willing to spend, as long as it's worth it. Really? Palawan has cheaper resorts compared to Boracay? I've heard good feedbacks to those who visited El Nido though. Will have to search the net for these stuff.

if you plan to relax and enjoy the nature, i suggest you go to palawan, and yes el nido is such a great place. if you will stay in town you can find affordable accommodation as low as Php 300/night. But if you like to enjoy the night life, water sports such as jet skiing and banana boat, bora is where you should be. palawan is a protected area and these activities are not allowed. You may also find affordable accommodation in bora but that will be during the off season from june-october.

I have been to both places and both have lovely beaches. It would really depend on one's preferences on what activities are they interested to know which one they want to go to. But to me, I definitely would go back to Palawan. There are so many places to see in Palawan. We were there last year and the place is really breath taking. There are so many things to do there. We tried fire fly watching in Iwahig, visited the penal farm in Iwahig as well. This is the largest penal institution in our country with no wails. The prisoners can roam freely and do work on the fields as their punishment. We went snorkeling at Honda Bay, had a mangrove paddle tour just near the port where you usually go on your way to the Underground River. The limestone mountains are a great sight to see too. Boracay is a very commercialized place already. But we would see ourselves there next year for our annual trip. My mom and my brothers haven't been there so we would like to take them there to let them now why people rave about it. But I really want to go back to Palawan and explore Coron and El Nido. Geez! I can't get enough of Palawan!
