Do nice guys finish last?

I was wondering... since there are nice guys whether in media or in life, are they really portrayed like such, as socially inefficient beings who couldn't talk properly to a girl and such? Do they really finish last? Do they need to be "Un-nice" to get the girl of their dreams and such?

I, being a girl, prefer a nice guy over a bad boy.I feel much secure with a nice guy.I have met a lot of nice guys are really confident about themselves and know what they want.being a nice guy doesn't really equate to not being able to talk to a girl.maybe that guy just needs confidence and enough guts to talk to the girl he likes.or maybe he's just scared of being rejected by the girl he likes.
