Do you trust sellers on ebay? Is Buyer's Protection foolproof?

I always check the feedback of the sellers before buying anything. But sometimes I see a really good deal but I get confused whether to buy or not because the seller is new and doesnt have enough feedback. Can we trust a seller if he has a very good feedback/reputation? Some people say they dont buy on ebay because its very risky and unpredictable. Also,Ebay has Buyer's protection. But is it foolproof?

When I buy something from EBAY, I always make sure to check the seller's feedback. It is always a PLUS if he/she has 100% feedback and the comments of past buyers are positive. If it is a new seller, make sure also that he has PAYPAL as a payment method. That way you have protection for your payment. Paypal won't release your payment to the seller if you haven't left feedback yet or there is an ongoing dispute with the item. I had an experience with a seller just this week, where the item I bought has damage. He sent me a new one and provided me with a free shipping label so I can send the damaged item back to him free of charge. Now, that's a quality seller!
