God talks a lot. And He's looking for someone who'd listen well. In the bible, this happened lots of times. Today, He's still like that---God never changes. So, if you wanna be God's favorite listener, these are things you should do: 1. Seriously study the bible. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it now, although God's looking for those who really want to understand it. If you do, He'd fix a favorable eye on you and will start to talk to you. Would you really hear Him audibly? Yes! He's God! If He created the universe, what makes us think He can't even speak? 2. In everything you do---and I mean everything---ask Him what He thinks. Then listen. If you don't hear a thing first, then try and try again. God looks for patience and perseverance. If you have those amply in your heart, then one day, you'll hear Him speak. He will turn on the receiver in your spiritual sound system. 3. Make sure you don't treat anybody badly, even in your mind. If you tell God that you're intent on doing this but you need help from Him, He'll enable you to do it. He'll simply "click on" the "good person" button in you. Well, at times, He makes it work slowly, so there would be some adventure and fun. 4. Always anticipate to hear His voice any minute and make this a lifestyle. If God sees you always watching to hear Him speak, He will, soon. But be patient. He always look at the heart, not what we show Him outwardly. Just do these 4 tips and you'll never go wrong. These are what I did, and am doing.

God can talk to you with certain actions in your life. this happens to everyone with or without reading the bible. how did he talk to people before the bible? before the bible even existed there was a belief system. the rules you present are only the rules you perceive and not a preordained rule that one has to follow to be close to God. sdon't get me wrong and think i am attacking you, i am not. its all circumstantial in what we feel in the heart in what we want to believe. if everyone did those rules we all would have better lives but we would cease to be human. human emotion bad or good is what makes us have fault and fault is human as drinking water is to life. i would say the best way to really get closer to god and hear him when he calls is to be like water.. formless!
