Receive a Tax Credit

Hi, I think you would heard about Tax credit that US government give back to the people. I thought it would be some other time, but this Saturday I got a letter from IRS said I will get my Tax Credit within 6 weeks of $800 (both husband and wife, filled join tax return)
As far I read from the internet news said, each tax payer will get $400 and who fill join tax return get $800. So, is anyone here get this letter? What do you think about it? Is it good or Bad? I am happy for this check but I dont know what other side of this purpose. Please share.

I haven't recieved a single word on this and neither has anyone else that I know. And beleive me, my people have big mouths, I would know if they had recieved anything about it. Where do you all live. And honestly, I think this whole stimulus thing is going to be a very bad thing. In the end, someone has to pay for it. It won't be us, it will be our children and their children. Haven't we already done enough damage to the environment and the economy to destroy their futures? Why are we adding to that?

hi ddhawkins I read some where that if couples and singles that have worked last year will have to pay back the government due to some over due payments.. I mean some of the people who got this stimulus check will have to pay it back next year because both husband and wife worked that year, now for say if only the husband worked and the wife didn't than they get to keep the money and have no worries of paying it back.. Seems a little strange but yet I personally think that is fair, it only gave two working people (husband and wife) more money more to the rich and less to the poor.. If you know what I mean? Your right though it will all add up in the end and it seems that people will be paying the government back next year of what they got this year..

To be honest with you, I got a check of $793 from them since Monday. I got letter said I will get my check on Saturday May, 05.
You should get it very soon and if not, you can call and ask IRS. I got that news on internet too. We are all so get one of those.

well,yea you do get it-if you have a minimum amount of earnings for the year.
since i've been home caring for my mom,i don't qualify for it.no refund for me.

Oh, I just got a check yesterday and it is a great news to me. Oh, it is not fair that you didn't get it... at least give you something right? But anyway, If I meet you somewhere, I will pay lunch

congrats! well as far as i feel its good that you received $800 and you are lucky indeed. they may be doing it to lure more people to pay the taxes. but they can't pay $400 to every tax payer. i am not from US. but i am sure there is something fishy about that. government is the same everywhere. here if the government gives something from one hand. then it takes more than that from the other hand so it's arising my suspicion. but you need not be worried and you can enjoy as you already got it.
