Every mother's day people say "Happy Mother's day" and I say "Thank you" I'm not a mom but I don't want to tell that to everybody who wishes me Happy Mother's day.Is that wrong of me? People just assume that you are a mother. So to all you Mother's out there, Happy Mother's Day in advance. Give me your opinion please

But you could consider yourself a "mom" if you are an Aunt? My Aunt acts like a Grandmother to my kids and she has no kids of her own. Don't worry it's pretty common to assume that most of us women have had a family. Just take it with a grain of salt, as they have no bad intentions tward you they just don't know.

just say Thank You despite not being one or say to them you are a "fur momma' (cat, dog, & the alike) and leave it at that. Or even if it's at work and just say you are leaving your personal life at the door. You are right though I'm sure you don't want to be cross examined why you don't have any kids. There are many reasons not to become a mother and if they cannot accept any of your answers without you getting into details... that's too bad.

You right, but if I tell them I'm not a mom they want to know why not. That's a whole nother story.

I can understand why you don't want to tell them you're not a mother. But, I don't think people will say it only to woman who actually have a kid, just to anyone. So don't feel guilty, they don't mean anything with it, I suppose.

I was also wished Happy Mother's day but I too don't have any children, but I am a Godmother of alot of my nieces and nephews. So I just take it in stride and accept it. Before that I always claimed that my pets were my babies..olol

according to some elders, the main purpose of marraige was procreaation(so i was sinning or rebelling againstGOD) now that i have people say that population is way too much and i failed in my part to help mother nature, guess i cant win!!!

Hey missy! I know what you mean! People just assume I'm am mom and a grandma sometimes too! I just get tired saying that I'm not either so I also just say thanks and the same to you! I am a cat mama and depending who says it to me they would already know that! But, I know exactly how you feel on Mothers Day! And Happy Mothers Day to all the Moms out there from me too!

Every woman is a mother in some way or another...LOL Woamn are always the caring one andeven if you just have a pet, then you are a mom. Just take the best wishes instead of repeating yourself over and over again. Only if a man that seems atractive whishes you happy mothers day then you can reply with "I not married", or something like that. OOPS, if you are married, ignore him as well.

Thank-you. No, you don't have to explain yourself to everyone if you don't want too. It is rude of them to assume something without knowing for sure. I once asked a lady how long she was pregnant. I thought it was at least 7 months. She was not pregnant. Oh I was so embarrassed! This has tough me to be more aware of my own business. I meant well, but still it is none of my business. Luckily she was not angry, she could laugh about it. I also asked a lady not too long ago if she had children. I wish I had not. First she said no. Then she almost started to cry and said she did not know exactly. I seemed to have hit a nerve there. It was so sad. I was afraid to talk further. These are very personal issues. What is normal for some is not normal for others. Me for one, am going to be more careful with my questions. But, in your case, I would guess the people mean well. Take care, have a nice day.

Thanks for responding. Were you the one that asked me if I was pregnant. Someone asked me that once too, I told them "No I'm just fat". They felt bad too.. Looking on the bright side now it made me loose 20 pounds.

Hey there missy Bear - it seams that tonight is your night:D sometimes i have posting spreads at my friends (or to my new upcoming friends :D) as i don't use the notifier - it bugs me. In my country, mom's day is in the same day with woman's day, so all women are celebrated and there are no big problems about it ;)

There is no reason for you to say that you are not a mom, in fact I think it is insensitive for others to assume that just because you are female you are a mother. I know when I was going through infertility that the worst day in my life was mothers day and I well hid in my bed all day long just to avoid situations like that.
