The truth is you can avoid type 2 diabetes. Avoid excess carbs, no one needs beyond 100 a day. For instance, that macaroni and cheese they seem to rely on, it is bad, not for the cheese, but the pasta. Eat whole grain (not whole wheat) bread if you must eat breads. Avoid sugar and sugary drinks, apple juice is one of them. http://www.healingdaily.com/detoxification-diet/sugar.htm Try eating this way http://www.healingdaily.com/detoxification-diet.htm

I meant to add that diet does not have access to protein sources, grass fed beef and chicken, wid fish are healthier, but the basics of fesh, natural foods a re good. Avoid corn products and things with high fructose corn syrup. I have a good friend whose 32 year old son got diabetes, I suggested a low carb diet and with 2 months he was no longer using insulin.

While whole wheat is better than white, it dos not have as much fiber as whole grain. Read the labels get the highest fiber content, and watch out for high fructose corn syrup, a hidden sugar.
