What is Meditation. It is a discipline of the mind by which we go into the deeper state of relaxation, by controlling our thinking and turning our attention to a single point of reference. It is something which has been followed since ancient times and a very integral part of my religion and a few others too. Gautam Buddha sought enlightenment through deep meditation. I am a Art of Living follower. Though not a very serious but yes it influences me at some level. Meditation therefore has a very important place. I resisted it for a long time but it was after a year of training that I finally reached a level where I was not sleeping but my mind was blank. I felt so rested, relaxed and energetic after that. I actually went in the true state of meditation. Have you ever tried to meditate? How did it affect you?

Even though meditation is not a part of my religion but I have tried it being a curious person, I haven't done it with some special trainer but on my own. I've found that I'm naturally quiet a meditative person and mostly I'm relaxed and nothing of normal people affects me. I've even involuntarily done astral projections where I could feel a complete buzzing of my body as it fell asleep but my mind was still awake inside, at first it was very scary I couldn't move anything and I thought maybe I've gone into comma ! Afterward a friend told me about this phenomenon being achieved through deep meditation and that it was a step towards astral projection (projecting your soul out of your body).

Congratulations. Though usually what people do does not affect me, but I still think there could be more done for inner peace by myself.

It is possible to feel tired and the guru who used to conduct my meditation sessions when I was doing Art of living courses said it was okay to sleep even while meditating. When I just started with meditation, there would be people who would actually snore to glory.

I have not tried it. But I would really like to know how it is done so I could start with such program. I have heard a lot of beneficial effects on meditation. I do hope that I will be able to learn such and use it into practice.

Just find a place where you feel peace, sit, close your eyes and concentrate only on a point. Maybe music anything and one by one stop thinking. And slowly you will have everything blending into the background and your mind will be meditating.

in my opinion meditation is a situation when we think about something very deeply.when we are in meditation,we just in it.we forget everything else arount us,we can't here the rings,we wont care how late the night is now,we dont care is the money in our pocket is enough for the supper,we wont listen to what the teacher is talking about or how noisy the air is we just think about it.deeply and purely.that is just my view.how about others?come on friends,be active, speak out what your view are.

Yes. All the materialistic things cease to exist and an individual becomes one with the rhythm of the world.

No I have not tried meditation but I envy you (tho you should be above envy by now)...meditation is something I would always want to do once I have some free time in hand...right now I could do with 10 hands actually! Not only Buddha but I think all prophets and saints practised meditation.

YES I HAVE DONE A COURSE ON MEDITATION AT A BUDDIST CENTRE IN lONDON . I found it really helpfull and felt I was really getting the hang of it with my group . I find it much more difficult when alone as distraction seems to invade my mind . I love to walk along and practice just feeling my feet touch the floor or the sun on my face , the wind in my hair .It must take a lifetime to be a true meditater ***
