I think it is absolutly ridiculous how much our soldiers get paid. As an army wife myself, it is crazy. I've been an army wife for 3 yrs now and i am currently getting help from the government. I think its crazy how basketball players and such get paid millions for throwing a ball around but yet our soldiers who die for us get paid small amounts. I am forced to live paycheck to paycheck because we hardly make enough for our bills. my husband has been in the army for 4 yrs and has been to war for 27 months of the 4 yrs. He was even thinking about volunteering to go back to war just so we can pay for bills. But I couldn't think of not being with him for that long again scared to death if I will ever see him again or having my children ask "whens daddy coming home?". I really hope that these problems will be solved soon.

I agree completely! It really is sad how many soldiers make such terrible money. So many people enlist in the armed services thinking they will be able to make a living and then get help to go to school. Many of them find out when they get there that they can hardly support themselves on the meager salary! Add a family into the mix, and it is impossible! I hate how many military families are on government assisstance. It just doesnt make sense. The soldiers salary and the government assisstance all comes from the same place, so why dont they just pay the soldiers a fair wage to begin with! It is like they are trying to make a group of people completely dependant on the government without hope of ever being able to do anything for themselves!

As a service member myself I must say we don't get paid for the level of work we put out. The problem won't be resolved anytime soon when I first came in to service I was making about four hundred a check. The fact that you speak of your husband tells me you're getting BAH, the cost of living in a lot of areas is much greater than the armed forces knows. I struggle from paycheck to paycheck myself. If you live in military housing I suggest you do some research and perhaps look at living expenses in areas close to base, for example if I lived on base they would take all of my BAH $1000.00. Living off post my rent is 750 and the other 250 goes towards utilities than the regular check goes to all the other bills. You might find it to be a little cheaper to live off post!
