Using Garlic to combat dog fleas..... Have you heard of this?

My dog has a serious problem with fleas. No medications seem to help and a bath only temporarily solves the problem. My mom was telling me to feed her some meat with Garlic on it. That supposedly when she sweats the garlic taste/smell will come through her skin and the fleas will not like it eventually ridding her of the fleas. Have you ever heard of this? feel free to share any flea remedies in this discussion! Have a great night all!

No I have never heard of this. But there is this new pill from the vet you can get that is AWESOME! My sister used it on her dog, and the fleas were falling off her dog within an hour. It worked so fast and lasted over a month. I have also been told that AVON'S Skin So Soft bath oil is good for fleas... I have never tried it myself, but I have heard it many times.

I have no idea what the pill is called. I just called my sister to see if she knows what its called, but no answer. I know the pill comes in different sizes with different prices, depending on the size of the dog. Try calling your Vet and ask for something that works like this. I also remember my sister couldn't buy it till her dog was a certain weight, so I'll have to ask her. Its not frontline or any of those meds you hear on TV. I'll be back when I have a name for you. =)

I have not heard about using garlic for fleas before. I have heard of using it for worms though, but then I read that was not good for animals, though I used it for mine in the past and nothing ever happened and the worms went away. Being as it is a dog and has to go outside I don't think you will really ever get rid of the fleas. Perhaps something like Frontline can help, they say it is supposed to be good for a month at a time. I ended up using this, though I did also use Dawn dish soap for many baths with the cats, not to mention all the combing I did. The kitten I had gotten was infested with fleas. Not only do you have to rid the dog of fleas you have to work on the house as well. I had a problem with my cat and kitten last year. I used salt in my house, on my carpets, not to mention vinegar on my carpets and my legs, and lots of vacuming. I could go on and on about this subject lol.

A long time ago we lived in this rental property and it got infested with fleas becuase the land lord wouldn't fix the basement window.. So my cats got fleas... grrrr which made the fleas go through the house. I had bombed the house several times and then I had to call the professionals bug exterminators in. I had treated all the cats with revolution which is a flea med.. The vet told me that I was going to have to break the breeding cycle and the meds would take time but they would work and if it's a bad infestation that I would have to get some professional help .. It was a lot of work. I now give the cats frontline and the dogs revolution. :)This keepd the little buggers away.
