To cheat or not to cheat? I'm not good at all in cheating during written examinations, but I know people that are really great. But it is fair? Have you ever done it? And how?

I have never cheated during an exam. Because I am the honest student. During the school years, if the teacher considered you was cheating in exams, you would be punished. I believe myself during the exam. If the student gain a high score through cheating, he/she will be nervous.

Hey GONGCHCHUA :) Like you, I have never cheated on any exam. I too am an honest student and I am really terrible at hiding something. I'm too scared and I certainly do not want to get caught cheating during an exam. If I did cheat, it will show because I am so transparent. With that, you could infer that I make sure that I study well before a test.

Oh ya I have done it. Some innocent childish cheating when I was in school and we had these prelimnary exams throughout the year. Now we usually had as our partners children who were two classes junior to us. And our first question in all subjects would be fill in the blanks. Well We would then just tick mark what we dont know. Now my partner would look behind and tell me the answer and I would do the same. And that is it. In maths he would help us to recheck if the answers were the same for our sums. It was fun. But then during our final exams, who had the time. One was too busy finishing the paper.

Again a really nice example of team work! It is amazing how cheating improves the soft skill of working together to a common purpose (that is passing the test). I'm more and more persuaded that if you don't exaggerate with it, cheating is an important part and lesson in school life. Looks like you may learn a lot from it.

I think it would be a big lie if most people were to say that they have not cheated at all, not even once, for all the written examinations that they have gone through throughout their lives. I myself would have to admit that I have cheated a couple of times for written examinations I have gone through as a student, and I am already one of the most honest people you can find around.... However, most of these cheating happened while I was still in primary school, still with that "naive" mind of cheating so that I can get higher marks for the exam. As I grew up, I realized that cheating doesn't do any good for my personal knowledge and development, and I am actually risking more than I can benefit by cheating in the exam. Well, the most common way of cheating would be to peep at the answer of the person sitting beside me, without him noticing that I am doing it. Another way is to exchange answers on small sheets of paper with friends without the teacher noticing. Oh gosh, all those student memories are starting to flood back now.....

no, I've never cheated on an exam. I've never been that type of student. I'm not that type of person either. I'm really not a cheater at all. It's just the way that I am. I don't like cheating, and I don't really like cheaters either. I'm not saying that I hate them or anything, but I'm just not really fond of them either.

Sometimes it happen that teacher keep moving in examination hall so I attached a paper with her cloth. 4. Pass chits. 5. chits between socks

That's exactely what I meant with 'people that are great in that'. Sometimes I wish I could do the same but I just feel like a big red arrow could pop out and mark me in front of anyone.. aren't you ever scared about doing those things? Did they ever got you while cheating?

I cheated during some written examinations when I was in high school. I cared about my performance in the exams. And sometimes I don't work hard enough. So I cheated several times to get high scores. After I went to college, I don't care it any more. I don't cheat any more even I could fail in the exams. Luckily, I didn't fail. :)

Well cheating is bad. But I would say, if you can get a chance to copy for 5 to 10 min, its ok. I used to write whatever I know for 2 and half hours in a 3 hours exam. In the last half an hour, I would try to find out from my neighbours for some questions which I did not know. There small things are acceptable. When the polititians are looting the county, its ok if you can copy little to make a living for yourself. What would you say?

Now the question comes out naturally: what is the limit of cheating? Can cheating on exams at the college affect the behavior of a future politician? Can small cheats lead to bigger ones? I'm afraid that that happens pretty often...

Yes i admit, i have done it. during highschool, the pressure was so great and i had to rationalize that everybody does itm and it would be unfair for me if i didnt participate. sometimes our teachers leave us ( i think on purpose) so we could ask questions with our classmates. But we have a rule like, you cant show your answer, you just have to ask or if give the answer by suggesting, or peeking is better so that you wouldnt endanger you seatmates grade or something. it's funny cause we're making unwritten rules for cheating. But in college, i became better, i tried not cheating anymore, cause i saw how unfair it is.

That's an interesting rule... you don't actually copy from your classmates but ask them suggestion. That's pretty respectful of others' work as they may choose if they felt like sharing infos or not and which ones to share. It's interesting how unwritten rules sometimes work better than the official ones. Another good point in here is the pressure you may feel under when you have a big exam to take. So the question that comes out naturally from that is: does cheating really help to ease the pressure or does it just add pressure (to be found guilty) on?

Never, because I was sitting where the front and right in front of the teacher. So, I cannot do anything. Only a matter of a simple first and the latter difficult.

You are right, where you sit counts a lot! That is one of the reasons I'm not confident in trying to cheat: what if I end up sitting just in front of the teacher? I also agree with your 'exam time management' doing the things you are sure about at first allows you to get an almost sure amount of point that can eventually be summed up with the difficult part of the examination if you get through it too.

No i never cheated on a exam, I always studied so that i was ready for them....In my opinion when you cheat the only person that you are cheating is yourself, because if you have to cheat you do not know the information, and how are you going to use that information in your life if you do not know it, or understand what you are trying to learn.

eheh... you just remembered me my first math teacher. He always said that when you cheat the one you're cheating is yourself! And it is true for sure, but I think that even cheating you can learn something useful to your life, just as you learn from mistakes.

Im guilty of this.. xD During my highschool days.. me and my friends would talk about on who would study hard on a certain part of our exam. Teachers would give us pointers on what would probably we'll be expecting to come out. During the exam, we will pass the a little paper around and write the answers down. I've even tried making a simple move like im raising the paper a little bit, pretending im double checking my paper but the truth is im letting my seatmate see my paper for him to copy. xD But when I'm in college, I've stopped my cheating habits ;)) I think it graduated along when I graduated highschool xD

Here you show some 'team work' about cheating in a classwork. At least seems a good part of it. And, as many other experiences it came a time to quit and 'grow up'. I really can't see a really big guilt on your chating, you may even say that it developed some of your 'soft skills'!

When I was in high school there were two classes that was so easy to cheat. During my sophomore year I had Geometry last period and someone I knew had her 2nd period so she would always write down the answers to the test and give them to me. And I always sat in the back so it was like the easiest thing and I would end up giving everyone the answer and the teacher just assumed everyone was smart and always passed..LMAO.....During my senior year I had Marine Biology which wasn't hard but I use to help out in the ESOL class and one day I realize that a girl had the same work as me and they use to go in there and get "help" with the test. Once I found that out I would get the answers for that too. I don't think cheating is always correct because at the end you are going to have to know the product for finals and stuff like that..
• Italy

So they didn't chance a word in the final exams from a period to the other? That is not smart at all, it's like they are inviting you to cheat! But as you said the important is that in the end you don't come out of a course without a clue on what it was about.

ooo wow... I was cheating many times.. especially after party over the night.. even during written exam.. one time I was cached.. I needed to write again and they made an exam special for me... omg.. it was so hard.. but after this, i have got lesson.. do not cheat.. because later you will need this information in your life.. what do you gonna do then? it will be impossible to cheat.. you will have to learn this again.. so why to do this twice and have a risk to be cach when you can to do it right now... of course it is your choise to di it twice or not..

Well for sure all of us cheat just in a different way, I know I used to cheat a lot when I was a student since, you cant help it! Hahahaha, I guess it is normal though, unless you're a genius or anything. I admit I had done that but not the to the extent that I make it a habit almost every single time I take an exam. Unless I really studied hard, I can be able to do it on my own.

I have cheated several times during my elementary years because I was not able to understand the value of education. Today I abhor cheating and its followers. I believe that if one cheats, he or she is not trustworthy. It is not fair to cheat because you are putting others at a disadvantage.
