Some people think fanfiction is disrespectful, others just love it to pieces! What do you think? And do you write it yourself?

I don't write fan fiction, but I don't find it disrespectful. It's called "fan fiction" because it's written by fans: People who love what they base their fan fiction off of. Say for example I write a fan fiction based off of the Sonic universe and it's characters. It's not disrespectful, it's because I want to explore some "what if" scenarios that pop into my mind, or perhaps I have a cool idea for a character that I think would fit well in the Sonic universe. I guess what I'm trying to say is they do it because they love it! I hope that was a good way to explain it.

Sometimes it can be disrespectful, but the name is very clear: fanfiction = fiction by fans. I'm addicted to fanfics, especially Frerard. I think this ship has the most great histories. I love it.

Well I agree with you. Fan fiction is way for people to explore all the posibilities that the original writers didn´t think of or didn´t want to add but anyways if you like or write fanfiction is because you love the original story. I myself don´t write them but I´m sure that everybody who assure that is a fan of any story have imagine a whole new part or complete story based on the characters of their favorite movie, series, comic, manga, etc. I must admit that I have done it!;)
