Why do dogs take their food from their food bowls and eat it all over the house? We've had our dog for almost two years and I still can't quite figure this out.

One of our two cats does the same things. Often she will take the food out of the bowl put it under the fod mat, then hit it until it comes out from under the food mat, then eats it; she also drags food around the house and will put food up on the counter. I think some of the behavior can be contributed to hunting instinct.

You got a point. Just wish that the instinct wouldn't show itself every time they eat. It gets a little messy.

I agree. The other thing she does is if I give her treats on the counter, she likes to knock them in the sink before eating them. She also likes to put things in the garbage disposal (not sure why).

Funny. You've got a point there. Maybe they're just mirroring their masters. We're always eating on the run.
