What did everyone think of J.J Abrams' Star Trek. I thought it was really good, and I was never even a fan of the original Star Trek. The casting was done pretty well. Spock was a badass. What did you think?

Yeah, i like the movie and i think it's one of the best movie so far released this year. I'm not a fan of Star Trek either because i'm quite unfamiliar with the terminologies of the previous Star Trek movie or series. I think it's too much for my I.Q. lol! Well the movie was action packed and i have found it easier to understand the charcters and their missions or whatsoever. The first ten minutes got me saying to myself "Wow, i think this is better than Star Wars". Spock is the most memorable character in the film and for sure fans will be asking for more.

As a hardcore Trekkie, the balance between J.J. Abrams' novelty into the Star Trek Universe and retaining elements from the original series was just exquisite. Commenting on the casting, I was skeptical at first, wondering how these young actors, most of whom have limited experience with sci-fi, but their re-interpretation was excellent. They incorporate their counterpart's main traits while deducting years of solidification from their impressions in TOS, making them youthful recreations. In the original series, you might see hints of cockiness and womanizing behavior along his assured command abilities in Kirk, which translates here to overt cockiness and womanizing with a command aptitude that goes through the roof. The spaceships involved were very different from those you might see in the earlier movies and the series - I mean, Spock's time ship with the rotating nacelles, Nero's mining ship with the tentacles and the USS Kelvin's odd design all left much for my mind to grasp, but are welcome changes to effectively modernize the Star Trek universe with the scientific and infrastructure advancements we have made in the last forty years. The storyline plot went by quickly, with great emphasis on the original cast, although I would have been more interested in delving deeper into Nero's story, which could probably be reserved for another time. I'd rate it 9 out of 10, and a sequel should definitely be in the works to build upon this pleasant surprise!

I've never seen the original Star Trek either. I'm not a big sci-fi fan (although I'm starting to get into it because of my friends) but I absolutely loved this movie! I actually went to see it twice. The cast was awesome. They're actually the reason I went to see it in the first place. If I didn't know half of the actors I wouldn't have seen it but Simon Pegg piqued my interest. Any movie with him in it is bound to be awesome. But Spock by far is the best of them all! And he and Capt. Kirk really complement each other. At first I was like, why would you cast the guy from Princess Diaries 2 as Capt. Kirk? But then I guess this was Chris Pine's opportunity to show that he can do way more than just teen movies.
