loneliness -american next epidemic

I really feel that even with the advancements in technology and communication that amercians are becoming lonely. People are always on there phones or computers chatting with business associates or friends, that they are missing chance encounters with others and real personal moments with loved ones. People are not meeting new people and makeing new friends as much as they used to or stopping by to say hello to old ones...In time i think that this behavior will lead to more unhappy lonley people-- what do you think?
