Fantasy stories are fantastic in itself. Some really good books have become world famous. Lord of the Rings trilogy and Eragon trilogy being two sets out of the famous books. Both of them have a different set of characters which really bear no similarity. But still these both trilogies are fantasy and myth. So which of them do you like more?

I have watched the films before even trying read the books. Considering that films are not as good as books, I found myself more easy to read LOTR trilogy and haven't touched an Eragon book yet. I prefer right now LOTR but I'll tell you again when read Eragon, mind you? ;)

Sure I will be waiting for your opinion on this one. I made the same mistake of watching the movie before I read the book of LOTR. The books are better compared to the movie.

that's not a mistake, watch before read...prefer this way because very little films based on books are that good...have you seen or read "The grass Harp"? that's one of those jewels ;)

I grew up reading Tolkien and C.S. Lewis, but I haven't read any of the Eragon series yet. I also want to check out the Golden Compass series. I've heard they're really good.

I am like inkstainedheart. I grew up mainly reading C.S. Lewis: Chronicles of narnia, which I loved so much and read them every several years, even after in my twenties. Haven't read the others (don't shun me!) ;o) But you have motivated me more to get back to the children's series books.

Why would I shun a person who reads fantasy books. I still read fairy tales in my 30s now. You should read the Golden compass series inkstainedheart. They are good if not great. Read if you like fantasy, myths, witches, parallel universe and magic.

I like Lords of the ring better than the Eragon series. I just love the movie because the special effects were amazing. The characters are very interesting...

The movie is really good with some good casting. I love how they have made the hobbits look.

I really like both of them, and I find no similarity in their story line. But if I have to choose I would have to pick Lord Of the Rings, because I did not know of Eragon until long after I fell in love in with Lord of the Rings!! Happy Mylotting...

I prefer Lord of the Ring, I love the characters, everyone has their own style with grand scene. It tells a story about love and friendship,I'm so moved. when I watch the movie,I really wish I'm one of them, suffer the pain with them, share the happiness with them, also I love the songs. Oh, I want to watch them again and again.

It would be LOTR for me. I really enjoyed its Trilogy. Eragon was a bit dragging for me.

Yes a lot of things happens too fast in the series. But then eragon is simpler. Thanks for the response.
