Program to rip DVDs?

I am looking for a good, inexpensive program to rip DVDs. I have a program called Sonic that came with my desktop, and it used to be woderful. I would just click on "Add Files", then the disc drive would show up and I would select the DVD, and it would import it as mpeg2. Then I could either edit it or burn it to a disc. But after I had my computer guy wipe out the hard drive and redo the operating system, it no longer works the same, so I was looking for another program. I have a DVD that I made a few years ago, and I would like to import it into my computer so I could make some changes and make a new copy.
