How often do you use credit cards while shopping? Don't you think it has more disadvantages than advantages?? For example, 1) In most countries some amount of tax is always imposed on your credit bill. But no such tax is imposed if you shop with cash or debit card. 2) You may be tempted to buy/shop more than your financial capacity. This may lead to debt in future. 3) Chances of fraud increases with the use of credit card. The person at the counter can do some trick and deduct more money from your account. You won't be able to realize this before you receive the credit card bill at the end of the month. So my advice is, use credit card ONLY IN CASES OF EMERGENCY

Most of the time im using credit card while shopping as I no need to carry much money out and can pay the purchased item later. I can also collect points to redeem gifts.

I don't own a credit card, and I'm not planning to until I'm financially secure and responsible enough to own one. I agree, you should only use a credit card in an emergency [for example, your car breaks down and you have no cash or debit card on you, but need it towed and the engine fixed]. Otherwise you might use it for things you don't need, and you can easily fall into debt. I believe if you're going to own a credit card, either use it responsibly or only for emergencies. I personally would rather use cash, it's a ton simpler. Plus I budget better because I know when it runs out that I can't buy anymore, so I watch what I buy and the prices better. I would also be fine with using a debit card, as long as I had a place to count up my receipts.

Hi Acematthews, I always tell myself that in the end I still have to pay when the card statement comes. So I usually try to control my spending, and not buy things that I can't afford. Moreover, in using a credit card means that I don't have to carry too much cash around. Plus I get points which I can collect towards redeeming gifts or vouchers. So it all boils down to exercising some degree of discipline when using a credit card. As to fraud, I stand at the cashier counter when I can see the processing of payment. If the staff has to take my credit card to somewhere else for processing payment, I will follow them.

i think im one of the few people who doesn't have a credit card when i shop i use the money i need i go to a cash point take out a fixed account using a debit card. Because that way i cant spend money that i dont have and cant buy more than wat i need and it stops me getting into debt.

I don't have a credit card.it is alright with me.I know my shopping habits.I will spend too much on clothes, shoes, lingerie, and perfumes, beauty products.I shop in cash so I can curb my spending.I don't even bring my ATM.I would just buy the items I really need and the ones I think are very worth of my money.

I feel that credit cards are a trap. I try to always use cash. Whatever I buy, I want to own it "free and clear". Those are two of my favorite words. "free and clear". I want to live my life debt free and credit cards with that ridiculous interest just keep people in debt for years.

Rarely. I mean, I have a credit card, but I only use it in emergencies, or when I don't have enough money on me for some reason (which I usually do, so while this sounds bad, it really does not happen so often. I am not a big fan of credit cards in general, so I try to avoid them as much as possible.
