Guys i need to know this. For example take a country like Italy which is predominantly christian. Will people of Italy elect an muslim if he is good ruler. This is not only for countries such as Italy, Rome, etc. Do you vote based upon the religion which a person holds.

I believe that some (maybe many) people consider their religious beliefs when choosing a candidate. For many people their religious beliefs affect their moral beliefs and they will vote for someone who has the same type of beliefs. Personally, I don't think as much about the person's religion as I do about their position of a variety of issues in general.

How did you just land up at Italy? There are so many other countries practicing democracy and there people are voting for the best candidate irrespective of religion, race and country of origin….it really depends on the maturity of the electorate. Out recent elections in India too show the maturity level of this nation where people have voted one single party to power and not looked for race, caste, creed, religion etc.

If someone is pro~life it is doubtful that they will vote for someone who is for partial birth abortion. Now that the question of Euthanasia has come up in this administration, I doubt that folks who are pro~life will vote for the "O" if it starts passing. Yes I do think that religion plays a big part in how some people vote. The question of whether creationism or evolution is taught in schools has become a big issue in some states and has cost some folks their political offices. Shalom~Adoniah

For me, basically, it is not about a candidate's religion or belief. A candidate for a government position must prove himself worthy of people's trust regardless of his religious affiliation. Well, you can see if a person's sense of morality is on the right track without having to look over which church he goes to. His character will speak for himself whether he will be a good public servant or will just squander government funds.
