wondering if my baby has a birth defect

I'm 6 months pregnant. My doctor went over my ultrasound with me, and said that my baby has a 3mm spot on her heart septum. She also has an enlarged renal gland which has to do with her kidneys. I'm just wondering if there's anybody out there who has had a similar ultraound that turned out to be okay? or if you could give me more info on what this could be? My doctor said I shouldn't freak out and that they will monitor me with more ultrasounds but he hasn't yet.. just really worried, would appreciate any info, thanks.

I have 5 children. 1 of which has spina bifida! He is now 20! Perfectly fine and a wonderful man. back then they had an alfa? test. They gave me to screen for birth defects. Nothing showed. When he was born with this condition...The drs wondered what THEY did wrong on that test. BELEIVE ME SWEET ONE...EVEN IF THEY WOULD HAVE FOUNDDDDDDD IT BACK THEN...NO WAY IN THIS WORLD WOULD I HAVE EVER GIVEN HIM UP! ............we went though numerous operations..throughout his life. I went through many anxiety problems worrying about him. We were told when he was a baby that he may never walk..he may be in a wheelchair for life..etc. My boy now..has no feeling in his left foot..nor bottom of his buttocks. But would you know? as he passed you WALKING down the street?
There is always a chance...there is always a beleif! NEVER GIVE UP....AND TAKE WHAT IS GIVEN YOU...AND WORK IT TO YOUR BEST!!!
I did! My 20 yr old son..is fine! Is healthy! Is an extraordinary Adult!
and though if they found the birth defect back then...and advised I aborted.......where would I be today without him?
My thoughts!

thank you Suzy! I have not considered an abortion at any point during this pregnancy, I guess I was just thinking that maybe someone might say their ultrasound showed something similar and it turned out to be nothing.. my doc said babies have holes that tend to close up before birth. I really appreciate your thoughtful answer, and wish you and your son all the best. lots of love and God Bless! BTW, it's a girl, I'm naming her Jasmine. :)

Well, I am back on MyLot after a year or so of absence. I thought I'd give everyone an update. My daughter was born healthy, no spot on heart or kidney problems. I named her Bonnie, she was born 5 days late, on 9/11, which makes her just a little over 7 months old now! I am truly blessed to have her, she is an angel and just perfect in every way.
