He is actually few days old. The doctor informed my bro he has difficulties in breathing 3 hours after he was born. Then later the next morning, doctor told my bro that the x-ray shows that my nephew is suffering from pneumonia. He is put on the ventilator. According to the doctor, he could be infected as the mother caught flu during the pregnancy. But according to a friend of mine who is an experienced, the infection would not be that bad, 60% infected, if it is caused by flu. It could be the baby swallow some liquids during birth. Too bad, the doctor cannot provide us a better explanation. We have transfered the baby to another hospital on the 3rd day. Doctor is giving antibiotic. The infection has been reduce. On the 4th day, he can start breathing on his own. I just hope he can recover soon. Today is the 6th day. Does anyone has any experience in pneumonia related to newborn or babies? Does any know the cause? Please share with me. Thanks.

I have no experience with pneumonia in newborn babies, but I saw the discussion, and wanted to give you my grievances. I hope that your nephew will be ok. They should definitely keep a close eye on any kind of cold that he may have after that. I have a couple of relatives that have had pneumonia in the past and it seems to come back on them. So just take caution. Good luck to you and your family. It has been 3 days since you started this discussion, I hope all is better by now. Take care.

It's really hard say what caused your nephew. Some say an infant having it right after birth, it's caused from Group B strep. The baby get's it from the mother, who has group b strep, in her private parts. Doctors usually test for this, but sometimes if they test to early it's not picked up. I do hope that your nephew get's to feeling better, and with the right medicine and hopstial care, he'll be better in no time. My 20 month old daughter had pnemonia right now, and it's been a mess with her.
