Where did you learn how to cook (if you can)? Did you learn from your family, from cook-books/TV shows, from experimenting, or from taking classes? Which is the most effective way to learn how to cook? What's your opinion?

ho pratik87, I am from Delhi India. As common in Indian households girls learn cooking from their elders be it elder sister, mom or grand mother. We dont live in joint family and i dont have an elder sister so what ever cooking i know has been taught by my mother. SHe is fantastic cook and she makes lots and lots of food. All my friends are crazy about her cooking and i hope to learn all of her cooking skills one day.

i learn to cook from my grandmother because she is the best cooker in the house beside my mum, cousin and my aunt!the best way to learn to cook is to actually do the cooking instead of just copy the recipe or watching the show!from actually doing it by hand, you will know how to find the right ingredient and how to taste correctly! lucky for me,all my first attempt on cooking always work well and have no need to redo it again!

my father teach me to cook, and i also try to enroll a technical skills and development authority and taking a two year course of hotel and restaurant, and i also refer to use cookbooks, the most effective to me is your learning ability and faith with the Lord.

I took Home Economics in high school but I mainly learned how to cook at home. I'm afraid I didn't learn how to cook when I was growing up, though. My mother always told me I would regret it someday. I mainly learned how to cook by following recipes. Before my mother had to go to the hospital one time, she told me how to cook chicken, salmon, and meat patties, which is what I mostly eat. Kathy.
