It has been for generations now that commonly kindergarten teachers and childcare takers are ladies and not gents. This is very common and i am one of the guy who wants to be in that field, and since i just started with my diploma in early childhood education and this is the problem faced by me and another male friend of mine. Our class is filled with 34 girls and 2 guys only and the thing was, when we graduate it would be hard for us to find a job due to the limitation for us guys and there would be discrimination going on...what do you thing of guys become kindergarten teachers?

Have you met any other male Early Childhood Educator? I think that there is really no such discrimination present. It's the availability of male educators that is lacking which is why there are more female Early Childhood Educators. If you can actually confirm to existing male Early Childhood Educators that they were discriminated when they were looking for jobs, then I guess that's when we can really discuss it because that means that there really is an issue involved :) I see this very similar to the Nursing profession. A few years ago, women dominated the Nursing profession. There was also no discrimination then, it was just that less men wanted to get into the same profession. But now, there are almost equal number of male and female nurses in hospitals because of the need for them and because more men came in to study nursing :) Thanks for the response on my discussion!

I think it's adorable for men to be kindergarten teachers :) most people are just used to women being kindergarten teachers because women have this maternity instincts or something or it's just that women are more patient and gentle with children what with them being natural mothers and all that. lol! I'm not sure if I'm making any sense here but I think it's really great to have men as kindergarten teachers.
