I don't know for myself how expensive they are but I will say that I think they are very expensive, and that it is easier to do for yourself. If you get lost while planning use the internet, or friends and family for ideas, it will be fun either way, and you'll most likely feel less stressed. My fiance and I have planned our wedding for the most part with a few minor details not taken care of yet. From what I've seen so far in our wedding planning, we've not had too much stress and with the benefit of having my fiance's mom help us, she can tell us when it's too early to decide something, and when we need to decide something. Congratulations on your engagement!

Congratulations on your up coming wedding and I really appreciate your advice so another question what do you think is the first step I should take? the first thing I should think about while planning the wedding?

Do you have a theme yet, or do you want a theme? That would probably be the first thing. My fiance and I kind of just knew we were going to have a theme, I don't remember how we came about it, but we just started looking for themed stuff. After that, I'd have to say the number of guests, and just what you want to do decoration wise. What about a venue? My fiance and I are having a small town wedding, we're not having many guests, so it's cheaper then a lot of weddings you see on t.v., dramatized, not reality... I mean.

I had a wedding planner/coordinater and she did a lot of work her bill was about $600 when all was said and done. Which for all she did wasn't that bad at all. We paid her by the hour for consultations they were 10 an hour. During that time we delt with the time line of the wedding, she helped us pick who was doing the cake, dj, flowers, and so on. She even helped us get discounts because she worked with those type of people all the time. The day of the wedding was a flat $100 and I didn't have to worry about a thing. She helped the photographer get the shots we wanted, she delt with where everything was to be set up, when people walked out, absoulty every detail was taken care of. You can just have a consultaion with a wedding planner to help get you on track and that won't be very much. Call around and get prices for your area is the best thing to do.

When I got married, we are also on a tight budget so what I did is assign friends to be my coordinator on the wedding day. I also told them the basic things that needs to be done and orient them well on the flow of the wedding. Our wedding is very simple so basically its manageable. You only need a wedding planner if its really a big event, let say 300 and up guest and you really don't have time to plan for your own wedding. I am a hand on bride so I directly talk to the supplier and make sure that I fully understand what this suppliers are talking about. If you think you can do it by yourself the planning just do it. It's really worth it. If you really want a wedding planner. Just scout the rates of this coordinator and make sure that you work within your budget. You can find them in the web or visit wedding events/exhibit (if they have it at your area).

I am an event planner. so i do all events. Because of how tight money is i offten start with a couple... focusing on there budget. But wedding planner can be expensive. you just have to find one whom will do what you want for the price you can afford to pay.
