Gas Stations and Foreigners

I'm from America. I'm not necessarily proud of where I'm from or what my country is doing ATM over seas. Around here there is always a foreigner working at the gas stations. I never see white people behind the counter. I'm not really sure why that is. I assume that they have the same skills in life that any other person would have regardless of what nationality they are. Its not that they are not nice (because they are), its just that they are always at a mini mart or a gas station. I don't think i have ever seen one at a Wal-Mart, or Best Buy before. Why is that? I have asked a few of my friends this before and they just give me some snarky comment. If i was to move to a different country i don't think that I would take a job at a mini-mart or a gas station. Why do they work there?

Many foreigners own the gas stations and mini marts. Its not that they just work there for a job. They work there because they are working for themselves! If I could own a gas station and work for myself, I would definitely do it! You can pay yourself good money doing that. I think a lot of foreigners tend to work with family when they first move to a country. So if their family isnt working at Best Buy or Wal-Mart, you wont see them there. And honestly, do you look for them there? Or have you just noticed that a lot of foreigners work at gas stations?

I don't look for them there, I have made friends with them but I don't want to ask them.
