what do you do when you are depresseD?

hi all! what do you do when you are depressed? in the past, i would cry and cry and eat and eat. now, mostly, i cry and cry and stare blankly into space. my depression does not need medication, it is just that i am sadder than usual and would need to cry and cry. and i don't want to talk to or see other people. i just wanted to be alone. sigh... i know, it is not good. it is better to go out and talk to people. but i am just like that, i woluld rather sulk. i would talk to people if i am in a good mood. it is hard for me to suppress my feelings. because i am pretty transparent. anyway, that is it. what do you do when you are depresseD? please share your experiences. thank you! happy mylotting!

I like to listen to songs when i'm feeling down. Slow songs really help me to relax and i feel much better after listening to songs for 30 mins or so. Sometimes i listen to rock songs just to let out the anger inside. You really feel better after hearing songs

I like listening to music when I'm sad too... Or any time really... It helps lifts my spirits when I'm up... and it helps me get out a good cry if I need one... Music is an excellent therapist... :)

Yeah that's right! Music is a great therapy. When I listen to patriotic songs, I feel so powerful. When I listen to sanskrit chantings, I feel divine!

I do what I always do. My normal daily life. I work in the garden. I crochet hats for kids with chemo. I serve lunch for the Seniors at lunch program and I write a bit. I don't talk to folks because I don't have anyone to talk to except my African Grey Parrot. Most of all no one knows. That is the way I keep it. Shalom~Adoniah

wow thats really good. i would like to have a garden, i would like to grow my own vegetables, that way they are guaranteed fresh when they are ripe and ready for the picking. i would probably just plant peas or watermelon, those are my favorite out of all vegetables and fruits there are available for purchase.

When I'm depressed (it usually has to do with my partner) I do cry it all out. That helps the pain to slowly subside and in this way you are recognizing that you felt sad or in pain. Denying it only makes you stuck to that phase. But depression like yours needs maybe needs a little exercising cos it clears your mind and sends more oxygen to your brain and helps you clear thoughts from your mind. Eating a little of chocolates also helps in secreting that certain hormone that helps you have that happiness effect. Watching a good movie, not the ones that'll make you cry, but rather those that'll make you laugh and even listening to music with fast beats. and don't forget that many people love you and you are not alone in life!!! There's lots in life to enjoy so don't waste your time sulking instead enjoy life like its your last!=)

Hi! When i am depressed i just lye down in bed staring on the wall but thinking nothing. Sometimes just turn on our tv and dvd then i play my favorite songs in piano. I also go outside for walk then end up to the nearest mall from our house, i do window shopping and if i have extra budget i buy a pair of sandals or any cosmetics. When my mood back to normal that's the time i start playing with my kids or turn-on my computer to do some online activities:)

I just move towards a lonely place, preferably where nature shows it's power. I'll just close my eyes and take a deep breathe. That's all! My depression will burst out through my breathe. Nature is the most powerful tool for everything!

Wow. I have so many different ways I deal with my bad days. It depends on the weather. Going outside is always a help. Like you, I don't want to deal with people much when I'm depressed but you can go out without seeing anyone. Just go for a walk(in the trees if you can. Mother Nature will always help you. If it's to ukky to go outside; try a hot bath with all the frills. Bath oil or foam (lavendar to relax, citrus to energize are some examples), seasalt, candles etc... I bring a snack ( usually popcorn LOL), a pop, a book and just tell the rest of the household to give me my space.

Hi friend, When i was depressed i will simply listen to music.It is my great friend which helps me to overcome from depression state.Other thing i may go to temple and sit there for a while.By doing these i will get rid of depression.

Well I play with my pet cat or watch my favorite DVDs or TV show I just basically try to do things that make me feel good and things that take my mind off whatever's making me depressed sometimes the simple things in life can be helpful when dealing with mild moments of depression, but if that dosent help talking to someone who cares can help like a close relative.

I surf the net! It always cheer me up! I used to play runescape when I am depressed but now I go on facebook or mylot. I occasionally go on msn but I prefer facebook to socialise. But then again, I am seldom depressed these days!

When I am depressed i just lock myself in a room and lay on my bed.I will probably cry to sleep depending on the situation.But i usually just lay on my bed and listen to music because it calms me down.

whenever i feel like depressed i used to talk to my best friend and if she is not free then i move on to listening some soft and sad song depends on the reason for depression or used to watch comedy videos..but i prefer that talking to someone close or sharing your feeling works most..

When I'm depressed, I usually do something that I enjoy doing, such as reading, writing, watching a movie, spending time with my fiance, just to name a few things that I do. These activities that I do generally help me feel better, when I'm feeling depressed, sad, or feeling low.

Hi there. I've been experiencing recurring bouts of depression since my last year in college for no particular reason. It's quite difficult, especially when it comes to the point that you could no longer muster up the energy to get out of bed everyday, nor see any reason to. People call it a quarter-life crisis and I guess I'd prefer to accept that as an explanation. Anyway, when I do get depressed, I usually just stay in bed and sleep the day away. And the, when I can't sleep anymore, I simply indulge in other forms of escapism, like reading fiction or playing video games. I also eat sweets and chocolates and consume lots of caffeine since I actually don't have any medication prescribed either.

I'd like to talk to my close friend, surf internet, eat and so on, there are a lot of way to take off. I think people are easy getting depressed who are in bad environment or they don't satisfied their current surrounding. Happy everyday, Spoiled311.

When I'm depressed, I use to stay in my room and lock the door.. Sleeping all day so that I can relax my mind.. Sometimes I use to play guitar and play my favorite songs.. Surfing the net is good too.. There are instances that no matter how I try, I can't relieve my depression simply because it's that hard to come out...

When I am depressed, I try myself not to cry but it is considered a healthy way to show emotions as the saying goes "better out than in." I myself have depression and have tried medication and it has lifted a bit of it but hasn't made any changes that I could really feel. I usually just sit in my room, alone and isolate myself. I listen to music, go on the computer or lay in bed and watch a movie. This usually helps keep my mind off of what is making me so sad or anything else for that matter. But I am also sure that you have friends that you can talk to and vent if you needed and having someone with a listening ear really helps in this situation. Take care and I hope I was of help.

I make sure that I clear my head by having myself in a positive self talk mode instead of a circular thinking round and round about the negative. You attract what you think about. Negative brings more negative. Think about it this way A thought becomes an action An action can become a habit done often enough A habit becomes your character once set in Your character then becomes your destiny. It all starts within you so call on your own personal powers in your mind body and spirit and journal your thoughts and write down as many good things about you. When you feel you are a miracle and see the situation you are in as neither good or bad but just a situation you will be more focused on eventually getting out of it and moving forward in a positive way.
