My cat has allergies and has to get steroid shots every month or so. She is a domestic short hair tabby. When her allergies flare up she scratches herself bloody. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check the food she is eating. A dog had the same problem and found the chicken in the dog food caused allergies. Moved to lamb and rice and no more problems.

Do you know what she is allergic to? My cat has a resperatory problem that flare sup every now and then. The best thing for him is to keep the house dust free and to vacumm every where he goes (under the bed, under desks, behind furniture). I know my aunt gives her dog who has an allergy problem benedryl and my vet did mention that at one point, you may want to talk to your vet about bendryl for your cat.

Maybe fine a special shampoo to bathe her in once a week that may help a little bit if its something in the environment... I have a little white kitten who is doing the same thing with her ears, and keeps pulling her hair out along her spine. There is nothing wrong with her other then she is changing color so I wonder if she is doing it thinking she is dirty, trying to keep her fur white when she is turning into a Tabby. - DNatureofDTrain
