Do "magic" mushrooms cause brain damage?

Recently a conversation about doing "magic mushrooms" came up in a conversation between my friends. The debate was about if shrooms will cause brain damage or not. I know that it is a hallucenogen but do they cause brain damage? What other damage could they cause? I'm listening! Respond!

Daneg33's response is absolute perfection. It is a very good summary on the effects of "magic mushrooms". There is one physical issue I do know of though that was not listed.
The kidneys. Psilocin the active chemical in psilocybin mushrooms like the cubinsis , baeocystis , and so on is actually a strong poison. If ingested regularly and over an extended period of time you could cause yourself kidney damage.
That is the only physical issue I know of. Stay safe and have fun.
