Why does my cursor freeze/stick?

I have no idea what causes my cursor to freeze since it does not effect the rest of my computer. I'm able to use my arrow keys and navigate when this happens. The only way I'm able to solve this is by restarting my computer. Someone told me it was because of my RAM but that made no sense. My computer is brand new and I made sure it had a lot of memory. Someone also said that I should defrag my computer and that didn't work either. I scanned my computer for viruses and spyware. I even cleared unused space but still nothing has worked. I think it might be a problem with Vista. Anyone have any ideas?

I am having the same issue, and my cursor is controlled by a touchpad on my laptop. I'm contemplating getting a plug-in mouse

New computers do it sometimes, just be sure your mouse is configured correctly. Plug it in again after a time, some usb slots do not perform as good as they should at first place.
