What muscles are generally used in the free weight bench press?

I have been trying to develop my biceps and triceps by doing one handed free weights, which I thought would increase the amount of weight I could lift in the Benchpress department. Unfortunately this is no the case any suggestions?

The bench press uses your tricep and pec muscles. It really has little to do with your bicep, and so if you're trying to train for a good bench, you don't need to focus of your biceps much. Try decline bench press. It puts alot more emphasis on your triceps while still working your chest muscles. Or also consider close grip bench press, where your hands are only a few inches apart. This also puts emphasis on the tricep muscles.
