Is It ok for a legal adult to date an underage person?

My bestfriend is 28 and is dating a girl that is 16. They've been dating for 6 months and her parents seem to be ok with it. I keep telling him that it's wrong because she's a child. I don't blame the little girl because she has idiots for parents and most young girls think older guys are hot. I think it should be his responsibility not to try to date her because he's older and should have more sense. what do you guys think?

I think the 28 year old is also an idiot because he can actually be arrested for statutory rape regardless of the parents consent. I don't understand how any parent would be ok with this. Very strange! This reply is from a female but I would still feel the same if I was a male!

It is wrong for your 28-year-old friend to be dating a 16-year-old. She is underage, she's a child, and he's an adult. He could be arrested for statutory rape. He should be the adult and not be with her. I can't really blame her, as she probably doesn't know that this is wrong, or that he could be arrested for statutory rape. But at that age, very few of us know about this, if at all. It's just wrong. I'm really against it, especially since I have a 16-year-old sister, and if she were in this position, I'd do anything that I could to protect her.

One of my friends dates with a boy who has 23 and shes 17 now and when i first time heard about it i thought that its bit weird but now i think its good they re together about 9 months and they love each other , their parents are ok so i cant see any problem when they are in love it doesnt matter what age they are because you cant stop love. but on the other side everything has some limit and when date for example girl who has 14 and man who has 28 thats sick. But 16 is age when girl shoul know what she want and when she wants date with your besfriend she will .

The way I see it, your friend should stay away until the girl is at least 18. It's dangerous because it's easy to fabricate something and make it seem like your friend is a pedophile. Even if your friend can say that the girl gave her consent, she's still under-aged. Your friend could face some serious jail time if ever something happens.
