My Fire fox crashes very often

My fire fox browser is now crashing very often, at least 4 or 5 times in day and mostly when my avast anti virus software is updating automatically. Then I turned off the automatic update of the anti virus software and found again the crashes some time but not as like previous.I uninstalled and reinstalled the browser twice and I found no improvement. What could be the reason for that?
