While visiting a foreing place its sure to bring a chill unless you know about it, its easy to be in your place of interest or hotel if you carry a map of the place and on the same if a guide is there to assist you!

i can't ever leave my hotel in a foreign land without first ensuring i have the location map of the hotel where i'm staying at. i don't want to get the feeling of being lost. so when i'm in another country i'd get the maps at the airport and familiarize myself with different places i plan to visit. funny thing is, during my first visit in singapore, a british couple stopped me from the road to ask directions on where to get the right bus that will take them to their point of destination. good thing i read the map and knew which bus number and station that they need. they actually thought i was a local when in fact everything was as foreign to me as it was for them. visiting new places require me to familiarize landmarks. if i have to rely on myself in not getting lost, i'd better be prepared especially in non-english speaking country.

yes i do.. Especially if i am travelling alone. And in a place where i do not know any relatives/friends. The world has become such an unsafe place, especially for us ladies. So i do not take any chance.. i go fully prepared. But, in case i am accompanied by my family or a group of friends, then i will make sure that atleast one of us has a map or some guide...

Yes,I usually carry the road map. It is free anyway for some countries through airport. I usually travel alone and carry the map. I don't want to spend money on guides since you never know about the good trips. Also, If I found the map is unaccurate and can't find it, then I can ask some people around through hotels or other store people for direction.

If it's within the country, I don't bring a map with me. I only bring a map when I travel to another country. Even then, I only check it occasionally. If the people in the country know how to speak English, I prefer asking for directions. Some maps are very confusing and difficult to understand so instead of helping you locate where you are or the place you want to go to, you get lost.
