when you think of health care & health ins. what do you expect? we had to get private ins. we pay 357. a month for crappy ins. in my opinion. the ins. is for my husband and a 1 yr old, of course me. i can take my child if she is sick to the doctor 2 times in a three month period, as for us we can only go 1 times. i have a wellness clause in my policy for my daughters shots and wellness visit. alls i'm suppose to pay is my co pay which is 30. i was billed a separate 145.00 for the visit that my ins. won't pay i have to pay it i found out that the our daughter in for her shots she was behind so she did get 8 at one time, so for the the wellness visit and for the doctor visit was 1,000 dollars. what are they thinking when they charge this not of money just for shots. i've called my ins. co about the 145. i was billed for and they said i have to pay. why am i paying 357 s month for ins if i have to pay extra when i go to the doctor. then there is that deductible we have to pay. i picked the 5000 deductible, i thought it was for the whole family boy was i wrong it is for each person. 15,000 in deductibles is that ridiculuos or what, who can afford that unless you are rich. do you have health ins. or not? do you think that are health care is gonna change for the better

My husband and I do not have insurance for the exact reason that you are talking about. I looked into it and it would be about $300 for the both of us and then you have the deductables and the co pays and it's only 80/20, which means even after we meet the deductable, the insurance company only covers 80% of the bill. We just couldn't justify it. He had an episode of kidney stones and had to go to the hospital and the doctor and I broke my leg and paying for these out of pocket was cheaper than if we had bought the private insurance. I think it only ends up being worth it if you have a major surgery or cancer or something really bad happen. Just for the everyday stuff or the minor mishap or ailment it's just cheaper to come out of pocket. It just stinks that you never know when something major is going to happen. I hope it changes for the better. I hope that once the economy stabalizes, some of the attention will go to universal healthcare and then we wouldn't even have to be talking about this. All we can do is hope...

I agree! We would sign up for sure and we never really go to the doctor. I think only a couple of times in the last 5 years! They would still make money off us, but the peace of mind would be worth it.

Yikes! that is a big amount to pay a month for them not to pay for much. If I were you I would be searching for another place to get health insurance. It seems insurance companies try to run people in to the poor house.

I work an insurance agency and we have plans that will help you with your situation. I am not sure why they billed you when you are paying them a premium each month. I get a lot of phone calls a day because most people are use to being on a group plan from work which is like the best coverage and then they want to switch to individual which is totally different.
