Why are Indian students tortured and harassed in Australia?

Many Indian students are torutured and harassed and physically assaulted and even attempted to murder some of them in Australia in recent past.Their Government interpretes those incedence as mere attempt to rob. What is behind these uncivilised behaviour on the part of the youth of Australia? It is well known that the Australian people are rude and are apt to show off their rudeness and misanthropy in public. But there is no apparent reason to hate Indians. Is it out of their jeasousy towards the all round prosperity of Indians in Australia? Or is there any role of the hatred arising out of the conroversy in the cricket match where Harbhajan and Symonds were locked their horns on a trivial thing? However, at this moment I must admit that many tourists especially female ones were harassed and even raped on Indian soil and by Indian people. While I don't seek any excuse for such dastardly and uncivilised acts, those events were not directed towards any particular community or nationality. We had bad realtionship with Pakistan- yet there is few such acts against Pakistani tourists or nationals in India. Is Australia passing such a poor economcic phase that their youth are compelled to do rooadside robbery or are they crazyly jealous of a upcoming prosperous nationality like India?

I think very well you have mentioned the things here. They are jealous of Indians getting good education, good job. They envy them. Plus they always suffer from superiority complex for their complexion, mother tongue etc. These may be the reasons. Plus they think that we are eating theior jobs as we are getting in good position in job market.

I agree with you on many accounts, and I think this is not an outburst of a particular group. It has only begun and has not yet spread all over the world. This hatred is mainly the out come of an insecurity feeling among the youth. We too sometimes feel insecure about our future. Just because one doesn't get the best jobs after spending money one gets frustrated. As the jobs take in the talent first the problem of being left out in ones own country arises. We too feel like that. When we apply for a job outside our state we are discriminated. The same thing happened in another country. The solution to this is not easy, rather not a practical one (Ie every one should have a satisfactory job.) Education should be free and lead one to make ends meet.Let there be peace and love and not forget that we are social animals. Without the help of other humans one cannot survive. So survival in a hostile atmosphere can be reduced by mutual understanding and cooperation. "Problems cannot be solved within the framework within which it is created".
