I have a friend who is younger than me and they sometimes look like they need a good shave,i have been friends with them for about a year now and they always look like they need a shave.I am not the kind of person who would say anything about someone not even to one of their mates or to one of mine. But if you are going out for an evening dont you think it would be nice if they like made an effort. How do you word it?

Sorry, gotta go with your friend on this one.. maybe it's just him. He could have a very good reason to not shave everyday. Really... skin conditions, allergies to creams and stuff... I don't know. He may just not like to shave and that's all he's got! :) Maybe you should just ask him nicely if he shaves everyday or something... when it's a no pressure situation!

Some people like the shaggy scruffy look, but if I looked bad, I would want my friends to be honest with me. You just have to approach it gently. Most people would appreciate it. If you friend wouldn't then leave it alone, but yes people should make an effort to look their best most of the time.

Well, I think it's their freedom to shave or not. You can say something like "You really need to shave, you look like *just anything similar*" That's all. It's up to your friend to shave it or not. I know you have good intention to keep him nice and clean but if you force him to do it, it's like you're dominating your friend's life. You're forcing him to do as you like, not what he want.

Hi jugs...I guess you could always say something like"when did you start growing a beard?" If nothing else that will draw their attention to it and maybe give you an opening to be able to comment on their appearance. Also, if we were going to go to a place that was really nice then I would ask them could they please dress up a little for the occassion. If you have known this person for awhile and you are friends I think it is better to be hinest with them then to let them find out by way of gossip or something. That is how I would handle it I guess.... flutterby
