If you are good in singing, will you join American Idol or a similar contest?

American Idol is such a hit in tv because people actually watch nobodys become somebody in the music world. From the audition to several stages in the contest, a competitor will have to prove him/herself to be worthy to advance to the final rounds of the competition. They have to endure the judges comments and be away from their families for several weeks. Is it all worth it? Would you go through the same experience if you are good and given the chance?

Many of my friends recommend me joining a singing reality show such as American Idol kind of thing. But I don't feel like I want to join. It's not like I don't have confident but I don't like the fame lifestyle. I just like to sing and that is all. And I am comfortable and enjoyed singing with my band.

Nah, I would rather joining a university choir and performing at the graduation ceremony, rather than humiliating myself on TV :)
