It's very hard for me to get along with others of different ages, especially someone older than me. Without the same discussion, and also no common interests. It really make me headache, how to do? Shall you give me any advise?

Hi there Crystal! I've been there actually. But in my case, I'm usually having a hard time searching for a discussion topic with the ones that grew up in different place like my cousin who was raised in the United States. I think that it would be easier if both parties are trying because when she did try the second time around, we found out that there are lots of things that we can talk about. I think with older people though, it would be nice to let them share their memories from the past but only if you are in a close relationship with them and feel comfortable talking to you about their past. Some also like to talk about their kids, politics, even show business. I think that the best thing to do is to be a good listener and also a good observant so that you can easily find out whatever their interests are and if they aren't in your list of interests, maybe you can ask them to tell you about it and maybe once you know more about it, you'll find it interesting.
