Its a freedom from carrying cash and I too often use them every now and then, but I feel one is always in debt if you are in a habit of using them more of. How many credit cards do you have in your pocket and use them occasionally?

I use only ONE at the moment. It serves as a debit card as well so I get the best of both worlds when I am travelling. I don't have to use two or three different cards, which also means NO debt as all the money I use comes directly from my account. A few years ago when I left my marriage I turned in both my credit cards and settled for my debit card and a new credit card. However, in the meantime I gradually realised whenever I went abroad that I could use my debit card as a credit card too, and without owing anyone anything as well as avoiding interest, so I got rid of the other credit card as well. Today it is wonderful to be without the hassle of credit cards and being ripped off by card companies with high interest. :o)

Ms. Cyprah, For once in my life I did something right and didn't even know it ! Thank you very much for your topic its a good one too . I have no other credit cards in my pocket as well . I can't say this is by choice ,but I believe someone above is really looking out for me.I use to have an attitude to well "get what i can with this credit and don't pay anything on it and it will go away". FAT CHANCE that going to happen! I know for a fact it will creep up on you and follow you as well in life. So I have payed off what I can now and soon I will get to the rest of them which is not much for I have never had a straight up VISA or Master charge.

i have only and that's enough... its very tempting to shop using it but i the hardest part is paying including the interest. i dont use it to shop for anything not important, i dont use it for groceries either. i use it for major purposes only and emergency ones... major purchases like if one of our appliances got broken, i can get a replacement right away. i know its not easy having a credit card but i try my best not to give in to temptation.

Nothing wrong with not having a credit card. It's actually that you do not have one.

I have no credit card. In my country having a credit card is not easy. The banks are offering credit card to limited cities. We feel the necessity of a credit card but alas.

I used to have five of it, but now I have none because I feel that I am being tricked by these banks. I don't really need it because I can always pay in cash and I don't like owing other people money.

Absolutely! I always think of it as banks' sneaky ways of getting money from clients. Bad. Really bad and annoying.

I have more in my wallet than I actually use. I really should take the extra ones out to make some room though. As long as you control what you're spending money on and don't spend more than you make you wont get into trouble. We put everything we purchase on the credit card, but we pay it off at the end of the month too. It just depends on how you use it.

I prefer use money, I think I will not going to spent more while shopping, while we don't have to pay for the high percentage interest rate. But credit card also have its advantages, when we buy some expensive things. We don't have to take a lot of money with us. Haha! Happy everyday, Dhawanbm.

I only have one credit card that I have that is not closed! My other 3 were and I have paided them off recently! I have the problem, like alot of people, of abusing credit cards! Credit cards are to easy to use and to easy to get! I wish they were never created! Luckily I decided to take a loan out from my retirement to pay off my credit cards! I think I finally learned my lesson with credit cards! I will keep one but only use it in emergenies!

Just started using credit card..and let me tell you that it's hard to trace where all the spending goes. I have to remembered it myself, so when I get the bill next month, I will not be shocked by the figure. Sometimes it is nice to have credit cards, in my country lots of discounts offered by credit card to eat in restaurants or buy some things. But it also urge you to spend more and more money to something you won't actually needed. It's better to use debit cards, you just know how to save your money using this.

Hi dhawan, i havent got even a single credit card with me. I basically feel that having a credit card pushes you into buying stuff thats really not essential and also makes you spend more money than what you can actually afford. Also now a days debit cards almost offer the same advantages as that of the credit card. And most importantly with debit cards you exactly know the amount you have at your disposal and hence you do not end up paying more. Also since these days almost all the sites have internet banking connected, it makes life even more simpler. What are your thoughts on this??

for sure they make you tempt for a certain thing of your interest and its a natrual that one may fall for it and come in debt. but credit cards have changed our life styles!

i think you should have at least 3 credit cards, but only every carry one at time when your out. those things can make or break your credit score.

I have 3-4 credit cards in my wallet which I will use any of them depends on situation. Different shops offer discount to different credit card issuing companies and therefore always having multiple credit cards allow me to make purchases with maximum possible discount always. :)
