Scripture - John 20:19-21 'On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After He said this, He showed them His hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent Me, I am sending you."' For the disciples things were very stressfull. A lot has happened in the last few days and they fear that the Jews might attempt to capture them because they were followers of Jesus. Imagine their further confusion when Jesus came and stood among them. The doors were locked, so they probably thought it was a ghost. Then Jesus said,"Peace be with you." The were overjoyed to see Him, their peace being restored. Jesus sent them into the world as His Father has sent Him. With their peace being restored, they had strengthened faith, and proclaimed the gospel as Jesus had commanded them. Their fear for the Jews and authorities were replaced with faith and boldness. When we go through times of fear, confusion, stress, etc. we just need to have a renewed encounter with Jesus, and experience Him saying to us,"Peace be with you!" Then we will be strengthened and our faith be build up, and we can proclaim that He is truly the Lord of our lives that gives peace that passes all understanding. Only through Him can we have peace even in the midst of trails and tribulations. May the Lord's peace be with you.
