I don't personally have any babies, but I have been around them all my life and I have noticed that every where you go someone calls a Soother something different. We call them binky's, pacies (soft c, so it sounds like passy)or a soother/pacifier. I just think its interesting what nick names people come up for stuff... What's your family's name for one?

i have one baby and she never took to a pacifier or a soother. I think babies who are insecure are the ones who require and parents who are too lazy to give time and attention to their children need to give them the soother or pacifier, whatever you may call them

I agree, but I think its also important to teach a child to self sooth. There really isn't a need for them, and they can mess up their little teeth.

I know soothers as dummies or dodies. I am Irish, brought up in England. I have no idea why we called them these names but this is what we called pacifiers. I had never heard the name binky before. Where is it from?

In my house, it's called a Binky. But my little girl who uses it, lol.. calls it her bink bink. We will go over mountains to find her bink bink. My husband's family always called it a passy, which my little girl will just look at them like they are nuts, because that's not what she calls it.

we call them tsupopoy... nipples here, the one that is use in bottle, for bottle feeding is called tsupon... and we call pacifier tsupopoy, i dont know if others call it like this, but my husband when we had our first daughter asked me to buy that and said tsupopoy... so everytime my daughter cries, and we said tuspopoy, she will stop and wait for her tsupopoy to be given to her..
