Video Games and Our Kids!

They say that video games rot the brain. Whether this is true or not no one can stay. I think the real truth lies in the fact that instead of making our children study we allow them to play video games. I will not lie. I was one of these parents that had every single console. Now we are down to just a PS3 and handhelds. Over a week ago, my family would sit down for dinner every night an talk. Once a week we would gather for a family night. Last week that changed. My oldest son, who is nine, did a big no-no when he pulled a blanket out from under his one year old brother causing him to get hurt. So I grounded him from his games and I explained to him, that I felt the reason he was acting out like this was because I thought he was jealous of the amount of time his brother got with us. So I took his games away and now all he can do is spend time with his family. The first day he hated it, the second day he tried cleaning his room all up hoping to get his games back. Now he doesn't ask anymore. We will sit down every night for a board game and movie. He spends half the time outside, and overall he appears happier. He is even asking for quiet time where we can sit down and all read a book. So does Video Games effect our children lives. I am beginning to believe they do and for me, I am sincerely thinking of getting rid of all of them.
