After the tragedy of Air France Flight 447, many are questioning the safety of air travel, though something of this magnitude has not happened in many, many years. Are you contemplating air travel in a different light now? If you have plans do you plan to follow through with them? Will you change your mode of transportation or cancel your trip all together?

I think it is ridiculous that people are so concerned because of 1 airplane accident! How many airplane accidents are there a year? How many car accidents are there each day? I would bet that there are more car accidents in a day than there are airplane accidents in a year! There is a risk with anything you do. Cars, airplanes, motorcycles. Even the food you eat. You just never know. Living your life in fear doesnt solve anything! If it isnt one thing, it will be something else. I have no intentions to change my flying habits. In fact, I would fly more often if I had the time and money!

I fully agree with you, it's amazing how one thing makes people suddenly panic in ways that are harmful to themselves and others!

Hi unbreakable, this tragic and terrible event will not stop me flying. I don't know the statistics but I would think that in the USA probably over 200 people are killed every week in road accidents either as passengers, drivers or pedestrians. Does that mean we should stay off the roads? Modern air travel has an excellent safety record and I feel a lot safer in an aircraft than I do on the German autobahns. Last year my holiday in Asia involved 14 flights including 6 with airlines banned in Europe because of their safety record. I had no fears whatsoever but I do understand some people are wary of flying and sympathise with them.

Good points, and I agree, you can get harmed doing anything, no reason to assume the worst, just live your life!
