Yes Bhanu, the role of 'Basil' for our health as well as environment is more than that we know. Two green basil leaves taken daily, protects fro cold, cough and skin diseases. Dried basil leaves can be used to prepare tea also, which is very useful for many health problems. I think most people of American and European countries have already started growing basil in their gardens for its health supporting values! Thanks for this nice topic Bhanu and have a nice day!

yes i agree with you in what you said about basil... where we live before i have planted basil in our backyard... and i used it a lot in my cooking. they re very useful not just in cooking but also because of it being a herb. basil is also a good mosquito repellent... it seems that the mosquitoes dont like the smell of basil, so having it around the house or inside in a small pot would be quite good, scares away mosquitoes. i have planted some of it in our front, but a rat had eaten all the leaves of it, including my mint too... =(.

Then take care of your basil plants. Use rat killer. Perhaps rats of your garden know the usefulness of Basil.

I have a lot of basil in my garden Bhanusb. It is mostly self set. However, it's great with many foods and as you say, has healing properties.

I was not aware of the healing attributes of this herb. But we always grow it and use it in pesto and other good things to eat. It is a companion plant to tomatoes.
