Twelve stops and home - Should People Be Allowed To Listen To Music On The Bus?

I have to admit that when I am travelling home on a bus I do like to listen to music using my mp3 player. I am aware of other people on the bus though so always make sure that I don't play my music loud enough for others to hear. However, I noticed a lot of people who do listen to music on the bus aren't this considerate. While many people do use headphones they sometimes play it so loud that you can still hear it even when you are listening to music yourself. And there are also groups of younger people who like to play music out loud on their mobile phones. I have noticed that this irritates a lot of people. It does irritate me as well, especially as I go to the trouble of making sure my own music cannot be heard by others using the bus. But some people seem to get really angry and go up to them and tell them to turn it down, sometimes swearing. Others look really annoyed but feel too intimidated to do anything about it, especially when it is a big group of youngsters. So I am wondering now what your views are about listening to music on buses? Does this habit irritate you altogether? Should it be banned? Or do you think it should be allowed if they keep the volume down? Maybe playing music out loud on buses doesn't bother you? Also do you have any personal experiences on a bus where there has been a serious confrontation over music being played on the bus?
